LEADING OIL AND GAS BUSINESS APPOINTS COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR
Second time Queen’s Award winner Merlin ERD Ltd keep on the growth curve – better never stops as they say! Winning gold requires building a serious team, and that’s Merlin’s focus with their latest appointment of a Commercial Director.
Iain Miller joins the team to embark upon the next stage of its development. Despite the industry downturn, global business continues to grow and MD Iain Hutchison who is preparing for the next phase said “we are delighted to have been successful in attracting another high flyer to the team – this will enable us to take full advantage of the upturn. Current indications show that budget planning is well advanced for projects in 2017 and we’re positioning our business to capitalise upon these, stay tuned for details on our expansion due for release in Oct 2016; buckle up, we are ready to fly.”
Miller, an Aberdeen University MA in economics with accountancy, worked for some years with Edinburgh based CA Pannell Kerr Forster before taking a leap into the commercial world of medical devices with Perth based Thermo Fisher Scientific. There he led the site and management team in the manufacture and supply of short shelf-life microbiology products for the UK and export markets, successfully managing UK and German manufacturing sites through a restructure and improving productivity.
Hutchison added “Merlin are delighted to welcome Iain and look forward to him playing a key role in our leadership team as we expand our Americas sales efforts in a tough commercial environment. It’s great to have him join the Merlin family.”
For the first time recently, relocation is not a feature as Miller lives in the beautiful Dunning area with his wife and children, he commented “Merlin is a pioneering engineering, value focused company with an exceptional reputation, recently appointed their second Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade. I relish the chance to work with this dynamic team in the magnificent Perth Cherrybank setting.”
