Sprint Squad athletes take to the track for the 100m<\/h6>\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Over the past three years<\/span> Merlin has sponso<\/span>red<\/span> this talented group<\/span> of <\/span>runners<\/span> and <\/span>all of them <\/span>have developed<\/span>,<\/span> deliver<\/span>ing<\/span> some <\/span>ex<\/span>ceptional<\/span> results. <\/span>W<\/span>hen Merlin first <\/span>met<\/span> with <\/span>Sp<\/span>rint<\/span> S<\/span>quad<\/span> H<\/span>ead <\/span>C<\/span>oach Alan Erickson<\/span> in 202<\/span>1<\/span>, <\/span>he explained that<\/span> group<\/span> was dedicated<\/span> but under-resourced. They had the talent and determination to compete at higher levels but lacked the speciali<\/span>s<\/span>ed equipment needed to <\/span>maximise<\/span> their training and <\/span>results<\/span>. Recogni<\/span>s<\/span>ing <\/span>the<\/span> potential<\/span> in the squad<\/span>, <\/span>Merlin <\/span>agreed <\/span>a<\/span> comprehensive sponsorship plan<\/span> to support the athletes and their coaches.<\/span> <\/span> <\/span><\/h4>\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\n\t\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div> \n<\/div><\/div>\r\n\t\t

Now in 2024, and e<\/span>quipped with the <\/span>further training aids<\/span>,<\/span> Sprint <\/span>S<\/span>quad<\/span> has <\/span>built<\/span> variety<\/span> into<\/span> their training regime<\/span>. The <\/span>addition<\/span>al<\/span> equipment<\/span> that <\/span>includes<\/span> weighted vests, resistance bands and medicine balls<\/span>, <\/span>has allowed the athletes to <\/span>push<\/span> their <\/span>limits<\/span> further<\/span> and the <\/span>coaches<\/span> to <\/span>include new <\/span>exercises<\/span>, <\/span>w<\/span>hilst using mats for stretching and warming up <\/span>to <\/span>minimise<\/span> the risk of injury<\/span>.<\/span>  <\/span>  <\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/h4>\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\n\t\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div> \n<\/div><\/div>\r\n\t\t

Owen Leonard<\/strong><\/h6>\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

One of the athletes in Sprint Squad is Owen Leonard, a 18-year-old sprinter who is currently ranked among the top five in Scotland in the U20 category for the 100m. Owen possesses immense potential and recently competed at the Scottish Athletics National U20 Championships in Grangemouth, where he finished 2nd in the 100m. Owen has recorded 10.80s for the 100m this season.<\/h4>\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\n\t\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div> \n

Rising star Lois Garland put down a marker for the squad this year. Lois won gold in the 200m at the Scottish Athletics Senior Championships, retaining her title from last year. This victory is the latest in a string of successes for Lois, who also competed at the UK Athletics Senior Championships in Manchester, featuring some of the best athletes in Britain.<\/h4>\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\n\t\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div> \n<\/div><\/div>\r\n\t\t
