Two decades solving complex drilling challenges
Merlin is delighted to welcome Jamie Duguid to the team. Jamie has over 20 years of international drilling engineering experience and has been a part of some of the industry’s most technically challenging projects.
Jamie joins Merlin following an extensive career with ExxonMobil, most recently with ADNOC Offshore, having worked globally in Papua New Guinea, Australia, and the UK.
Throughout his career, Jamie has developed significant expertise in the planning and delivery of complex, high-angle and ERD wells. The Merlin team is delighted to have Jamie on board.

Ready to make an impact
Jamie was attracted to Merlin by the opportunity to turn his focus to detailed technical drilling engineering and apply his experience directly to client challenges.
“Merlin has an excellent reputation within the industry, and it seemed like a really good match for my experience and skills,” Jamie said.
“I’m looking forward to being part of client projects, helping deliver wells safely, and on time. I’ve met a few of the Merlin team throughout my career and was always impressed by them, always good at their job and good fun.”
Jamie’s 21 years as a drilling engineer within large operators provides a valuable perspective when supporting Merlin’s clients and allows him to approach projects with a strong understanding of their operational and technical requirements.
Jamie has recently returned to Scotland with his wife and two daughters, moving from Abu Dhabi to Bishopbriggs, near Glasgow.
Away from drilling engineering, he is a keen runner. Having previously represented Scotland in age-group rugby, Jamie has swapped collisions on the rugby pitch for marathon running and can complete the distance in a little over three hours.
There is, however, one Merlin competition he is less confident about winning; the Soup Making Competition, held every Monday during the winter months at Merlin HQ in Perth, Scotland.
“I won’t be on the podium, but as eating is my main hobby, the judging will be fun!”
